The first "real" Revolution game?

Last updated 04/08/06 by Dan

Yesterday images from an upcoming issue of “game Informer” magazine were leaked onto the internet. These images contain a blow-out preview and first screen shots of any Revolution game.

That game is Red Steel, a FPS which is being developed by Ubisoft.

I’ve not got a chance to read the actual article, but bits and pieces of info have come my way. These include:

- Nintendo had a lot of input in this game.
- The revolution controller can be tilted and held at any angle, which also changes the angle of the arm on your character (so you can hold your gun sideways, bitches)
- The storyline is mostly unknown but apparently centers around the Yakuza.
- Massive amounts of gunplay as well as sword play are planned (swords can be seen in some of the smaller scans)
- When the controller is pointed directly towards an enemy, this allows you to target it and strafe around it more effectively.
- Online play is planned and the game is set to be a launch title.

Not much else is really known, but the screens look great and are indeed real (they were first rumored to be renders), as confirmed by a Ubisoft VIP.

This proves that while the Revolution might lack some overall horsepower compared to the other big two systems, it can still pump out comparable visuals.

Hopefully this can put to rest some rumors of the system being vastly underpowered. There is still debate about whether they are reatime or not, but as mentioned a Ubisoft employee who posts on the IGN boards has said they are real, and the magazine article also says they are.

When this issue of Game Informer hits the stands, do yourself a favour and pick it up, now it’s time to sit back and wait until E3, where we can hope to see the game in motion and see how it truly plays.
